We are pleased to announce that Sean Griffin, Member at Longman & Van Grack, has been named Secretary Treasurer of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Council (FDCC). Sean the first person of color to serve as an officer of the FDCC, and in July 2027, he will begin serving as the FDCC's President.
The FDCC is an invitation-only organization of the nation’s top civil defense litigators, in-house counsel, and insurance industry executives. Founded in 1936, the FDCC is dedicated to advancing the civil defense bar through collaboration, education, and leadership development. The FDCC thoroughly investigates applicants to ensure each member possesses not only for their exceptional legal skill and integrity, but also professional civility and collegiality. With a global reach and a strong focus on mentorship and professional growth, the FDCC is regarded as the premier organization for leaders in the defense and corporate counsel communities.

Sean Griffin is a Member at Longman & Van Grack. Sean has 30+ years of experience representing various organizations, including insurance companies, government contractors, construction companies, and law firms in federal and state courts across the country. Sean is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), a certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), and a frequent speaker and author on data security and privacy issues. In addition to being Secretary Treasurer of the FDCC, Sean also serves on DRI’s AI Task Force and on its Center for Law and Public Policy. Additionally, Sean is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (“IADC”), where he Co-Chairs the AI Committee and serves as a Vice Chair of the Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Technology Committee. Sean is also a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (“ADTA”), where he Chairs the Artificial Intelligence Steering Committee.
